Your Child's Development

Girl on laptopAt Careshare, we carefully plan and structure your child's day, providing the stimulation and enjoyment they need.  Therefore, our development plans take into account the differences that age and personality bring, providing a structure to help your child develop.

Toddlers 2 - 3 years
Children learn through play and this should be a fun time for all involved as it allows the children to develop many skills.  When children play, they:

talk, discover, listen, experiment, think, create, question, explore

Careshare's Development Plan for 2 to 3 year olds is a child-centred guideline, which is used as a basis to develop the children's individual skills.  The concentration span is short and the children need a variety of changing activities throughout the day.

Junior Pre-school 3 - 4 years
Children learn through play and this should be a fun time for all involved as it allows the children to develop many skills.  When children play, they:

talk, discover, listen, experiment, think, create, question, explore

Careshare's Development Plan for 3 to 4 year olds is more structured than for the younger children as its basis is very practical and wide-ranging.  The reason for this is that the concentration span is increasing, although the children still need to move from activity to activity rather quickly.

Pre-school 4 - 5 years
Careshare's Development Plan for 4 to 5 year olds is more structured than for the younger children. Our aim is to provide a sound foundation for school, gently encouraging them to be confident, independent, sociable and knowledgeable about the world around them.

A Day at Careshare

You might be surprised to learn just how busy your child's day is at Careshare - perhaps even as busy as yours. Here, play is not simply a chance to have fun. It's also about:

collaborating, organising, making choices, talking and communicating, explaining, taking responsibility, asking and answering, recording, interpreting, predicting, recalling and reflecting.

Here's a little peek at a typical day...

8.00am onwards
As another day starts, the children are given a great big hello of a welcome from the nursery team. And once mum and dad have been waved off, it's straight into the children's own choice of activity. Today, it's creative play painting - a chance to get messy and have some fun with printing, collage or clay.

10.00am
Imagine you're an aeroplane pilot, a deep sea diver, a ballerina, a shopkeeper or an astronaut. What would you wear? How would you act? This is when we really feed their imagination.

11.30am
If the weather's nice, it's time to enjoy some fresh air as we run, skip and climb in the safety of the Careshare play area. The children don't know it of course, but even here they're learning - all about co-ordination, control and moving safely.

Lunchtime
The fun learning doesn't stop just because it's time to eat. It's also time to learn the value of healthy eating; time to learn those all-important table manners.

2.00pm
Let's get down to some serious playtime! This is when the children get to experiment with all sorts of wonderful things, like wet and dry sand, tools and soft materials.

3.00pm
Now comes the noisy bit. Listening and responding to music - and playing it too - is a great form of personal expression.

4.00pm
Let's all tie our shoe laces! And discover other ways to perfect that all-important hand-to-eye co-ordination.

5.00pm
It's story time. Whether it's listening, creating or interacting with words and pictures, this is literary appreciation at its most fun.

5.30pm onwards
Home time. So what has your child been up to today? They'll soon tell you all about it.

And we haven't even mentioned our regular visits to libraries, parks and museums....
